It's official, Brad Pitt and the kids love camping - and Angelina comes ...

Posted by Kim Novak on 20 May 2013 19:41

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie love camping. In tents. Outside. There are a few things we never thought we'd say, but apparently are true. Who knew?

While Brangelina may have enough spare cash to book into a 5* hotel every night for the rest of their lives, it seems the A-list couple love nothing more than getting in touch with nature and spending a night under the stars. We bet they have a deluxe tent with comfy airbeds rather than slumming it festival-style though...

Brad Pitt spoke to Esquire about his family's unusual pastime the morning after they camped out on their property in Santa Barbara, and claimed he had woken up 'too early and too wet.' Brad, four of his six childrean and two friends had spent the night in tents, and Brad confirmed, "Yeah, Angie too."

Brangelina's relationship might be one of the strongest in Hollywood - Brad has been there every step of the way supporting Angelina through her preventative double mastectomy. Speaking about his family, Brad said "I haven't known life to be any happier." N'awwww!

In fact, they probably also have the cutest home life in Hollywood too - a friend of the couple told Esquire, "once I walked in and Angie was standing there and Zahara walked up and said, ‘Daddy, you’re not going to start making out with Mommy again, are you?’ And it’s like that. This is a guy who has tried not to do any sexy scenes with other women since he’s met Angelinia. He’s crazy about her, and she’s the same way about him. No matter how hard he’s working, if one of those kids runs by the window he’ll get out of his chair and give them a kiss. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen Angie without one of those children in her arms.” Could they get any more perfect?

The announcement of the mastectomy of Angelina Jolie has quickly toured the Web and caused surprise and strong reactions. Here are some...

Brad Pitt : "having been the privileged witness of this decision, I find the choice of Angie, like that of many other women in her case, absolutely heroic. I thank our medical team for his care and attention. I want most in the world is that she lives a long life in good health with me and our children. It is a happy day for all our family".

James Haven Voight (brother of Angelina Jolie) : "my sister, like my mother, always raised her children as a priority. I am so proud to be his brother".

Jon Voight (father of Angelina Jolie) : "there are no words to describe all the love and admiration that I have for my daughter. I saw her two days ago with Brad on the occasion of the birthday of my son Jamie. But she told us nothing. It was probably not clear to it. I learned Tuesday morning. I called him as soon as I knew, she told me everything narrated and explained the procedure. I was also surprised everyone and deeply moved by the way she handled it. It is an extraordinary person."

Jane Pitt (Brad Pitt's mother) : "we are so proud of Angie, it means so much for our family and especially for our grandchildren." We love him dearly".

William Hague (Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom) : "it is a courageous and very professional woman. She has worked extensively with me in the past months. It was presented to the Foreign Ministers from the G8 Summit in London to work with me on the prevention of sexual violence in conflict zones and accompanied me to the Congo in very difficult places. It has shown at any time that it followed such treatment and I find that it is a woman courageous, not only for having continued to work as if nothing had happened, but also for having shared his experience. It will be a source of inspiration for many people".

Sarah Sands (journalist) : "I accompanied William Hague and Angelina Jolie during their trip to the Congo. Before leaving, there was some uncertainty about his presence, that I put on the account of his use of the time. In fact, it turns that she had to undergo a major surgery and was still under treatment. However, she took a flight to London, then to Nairobi where she joined us. I remember having noted how she was elegant and fresh throughout the trip. She asked no special treatment. She herself wore his bag. During our flight to Congo, the pilot informed us that he was trying to thwart the worst storm in the world. Angelina Jolie has not bat an eyelid. She traveled for hours in a 4 x 4 on volcanic and winding roads. One of the team members had an awful bad back because the State of the roads. Another suffered from sickness. The only person who has ever complained is Angelina Jolie, while she also had to suffer. We visited camps of refugees where infections and diseases were present. It did not appear the upset. We were all whitewashed sunscreen and portions glasses. Angelina Jolie wearing a hat, but not of glasses because she thought it was rude to people she met. After the hard work of this trip, it took only a flight to Kinshasa, thus missing the discussions at the British Embassy. His family was missing and she wanted to go. I also think that his treatment required".

15 Celebrities Who Look Like The Young Version Of Iconic Actors

by Stacy Lambe (@sllambe)

Celebrity doppelgangers are nothing new. Everyone knows that Zoe Deschanel is the hipster version of Katy Perry who is the pop tart version of Emily Blunt. But there is a whole different crop of doppelgangers: celebs who look like the young version of iconic actors. That’s to say, Brad Pitt looks a lot like Robert Redford when he was younger. Check out 15 stars who remind us of those who came before them.

Brad Pitt to 'Esquire': 'I Haven't Known Life to Be Any Happier'

Brad Pitt rocks a pair of shades on the cover of Esquire magazine‘s June/July issue, on newsstands May 31.

Here is what the 48-year-old actor had to share with the mag in his first magazine profile to be released since news broke of his partner Angelina Jolie‘s double mastectomy:

On his family making him happy: “I have very few friends. I have a handful of close friends and I have my family and I haven’t known life to be any happier. I’m making things. I just haven’t known life to be any happier.”

On changing the direction of his life: “I’d get so far and then want to do something else. I mean, I’m two credits short of graduating college. Two credits. All I had to do was write a paper. What kind of guy is that? That guy scares me – the guy who always leaves a little on his plate. For a long time I thought I did too much damage – drug damage. I was a bit of a drifter. A guy who felt he grew up in something of a vacuum and wanted to see things, wanted to be inspired. I followed that other thing. I spent years f–king off. But then I got burnt out and felt that I was wasting my opportunity. It was a conscious change. This was about a decade ago. It was an epiphany – a decision not to squander my opportunities. It was a feeling of get up. Because otherwise, what’s the point?”

On missing his kids when they’re not around: “I always thought that if I wanted to do a family, I wanted to do it big. I wanted there to be chaos in the house… there’s constant chatter in our house, whether it’s giggling or screaming or crying or banging. I love it. I love it. I love it. I hate it when they’re gone. I hate it. Maybe it’s nice to be in a hotel room for a day – ‘Oh, nice, I can finally read a paper.’ But then, by the next day, I miss that cacophony, all that life.”

More women to be offered breast cancer test

By FIONA MACGREGOR
Published on 21/05/2013 00:50

More women are to be offered tests to find if they have a gene that puts them at greater risk of developing breast cancer, health secretary Alex Neil has said.

At present, women in Scotland can undergo genetic testing if doctors believe they have a 20 per cent chance of developing breast cancer.

But under new plans, those with a 10 per cent risk of the disease can be tested for a faulty BRCA gene.

Last night, Mr Neil urged anyone who was concerned their family history put them at risk of the disease to contact their doctor.

He said he hoped Hollywood star Angelina Jolie speaking out about her decision to have a preventive double mastectomy would spur women to seek medical advice.

Risk is usually determined by close family history, and takes into consideration factors including whether relatives were young when diagnosed with breast cancer; whether a relative had cancer in both breasts; if men in the family have had breast cancer; and if there is ovarian cancer in the family.

Mr Neil said it had been agreed in April to extend the testing in line with new guidelines south of the Border. He added that the extended testing would be “fully implemented” by the start of next month.

Mr Neil said: “Anyone who is concerned they may be at risk because of their family history should seek advice via their GP who can, if appropriate, refer on to the cancer genetics service.”

Ms Jolie, 37, revealed last week that she had surgery after being told by doctors she had an 87 per cent chance of developing breast cancer and a 50 per cent risk of ovarian cancer.

Mr Neil added: “The earlier cancer is detected, the easier it is to treat and the better the chance of a successful outcome, and we hope Ms Jolie’s story will encourage anyone with a family history of cancer to seek advice from the medical
profession.”

Ms Jolie, whose mother had cancer and died at the age of 56, said she had revealed her decision to have a double mastectomy in the hope that other women could benefit from her experience.

The Tomb Raider actress wrote in the New York Times: “I want to encourage every woman, especially if you have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer, to seek out the information and medical experts who can help you through this aspect of your life, and to make your own informed choices.”

The decision to extend testing in Scotland was supported by the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer, whose Scotland director James Jopling said: “We welcome the fact Scotland is mirroring the draft recommendation to extend tests to more women at risk.

“It is worth remembering the gene fault is rare and is present in less than 1 per cent of the population, usually where there are multiple members of the family affected by breast or ovarian cancer at a younger age than would usually be expected

Brad On Drug Use: I Thought I Did Too Much Damage

admits that he spent "years f***ing off," but at 49, he tells Esquire magazine that he made a "conscious change" to turn his life around.

"I'd get so far and then want to do something else. I mean, I'm two credits short of graduating college. Two credits. All I had to do was write a paper. What kind of guy is that?" the A-list actor recalls of his old life. "For a long time I thought I did too much damage - drug damage. I was a bit of a drifter. A guy who felt he grew up in something of a vacuum and wanted to see things, wanted to be inspired. I followed that other thing."

That's when things changed for Pitt. "It was a conscious change. This was about a decade ago. It was an epiphany - a decision not to squander my opportunities," the World War Z star confesses. "It was a feeling of get up. Because otherwise, what's the point?"

Published in the June/July 2013 issue, on sale any day now

Brad Pitt won't remember you. If you've met him, he'll have no idea who you are when he meets you again. Even if you've had what he calls "a real conversation," your face will start fading from his memory as soon as you walk away. He'll try to hold on to its outlines, but your features will suffer an inexorable erasure, and the next time he sees you you'll be brand-new to him. He used to try tricking those he'd forgotten into thinking he remembered them, or at least waiting them out for a clue or scrap of context. But then he decided to experiment.

"So many people hate me because they think I'm disrespecting them," he says. "So I swear to God, I took one year where I just said, This year, I'm just going to cop to it and say to people, 'Okay, where did we meet?' But it just got worse. People were more offended. Every now and then, someone will give me context, and I'll say, 'Thank you for helping me.' But I piss more people off. You get this thing, like, 'You're being egotistical. You're being conceited.' But it's a mystery to me, man. I can't grasp a face and yet I come from such a design/aesthetic point of view. I am going to get it tested."

He is convinced he has that thing, that condition he read about a few years ago. What's it called? Is he pronouncing it right? That's it: prosopagnosia. It's gotten to the point where he doesn't even like going out — "that's why I stay at home" — but he's also a public person, the center of crowds. "You meet so many damned people," he says. "And then you meet

Imposters! Police are called as pranksters dressed up as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie stage wedding at the couple's French estate
If Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were to decide to hold their nuptials at their Chateau Miraval, then it appears they have been given a look into the future.

The Hollywood couple's home in France was the subject of a television prank on Monday as two jokers broke into their grounds, one dressed as Brad with another as a particularly unconvincing Angelina.

French authorities were promptly called and the pair of misfits were escorted off the premises.
